Home Improvement with Good Return on Investment

If you are a homeowner you know that maintenance / projects abound around the house. But which home improvements will give you the best return on your investment of time and money. Here are a few ideas that will improve the value of your home and give you a good return on your investment:

Replace your front door. Choose one that makes a statement and compliments the style of your house. Not only will it improve your home’s curb appeal but a new door will most likely be more energy efficient and lower your energy bills.

·         Replace your old siding. Vinyl siding is one of the cheaper options and usually comes with a transferrable warranty. Clean, well maintained siding obviously is good for curb appeal as well.

·         Update your kitchen. Renovating an older kitchen (but not going too crazy on your budget) is always a good investment. Kitchens are the heart of most homes so improving this room will never be regretted and your return on your investment if you sell will be good.

·         Build a deck. You may not be able to add indoor living space to your home (which can be quite costly) but a deck will add valuable outdoor living space and at a much cheaper price.

·         Replace your garage door. This is another great project to improve the curb appeal of your home. When it’s time to sell your house, first impressions are everything.

For the best return on your investment keep these four characteristics in mind before you begin your project:  low maintenance, energy efficient, good quality and low cost.
