The Winter Cold Does Not Keep Buyers Away!

Winter is a great time to sell! One reason is that buyers tend to be a little more serious when they are looking for a home in the cold and snow. If they weren’t serious about buying, they’d probably wait until the weather was warmer.  If you are in the market to sell this winter, there are a few things to keep in mind to boost your home’s marketability.

Keep your driveway and walkways clear of ice and snow. If you need to hire someone to do this for you, it’s money well spent. Real estate agents and their buyers will not be able to look at your house if they can’t even get into your driveway or will be instantly turned off if they slip and fall on the ice or must trudge through the snow to the front door.

Make sure your house is warm during showings. You want potential buyers to be focusing on the features of your home and not on how much their teeth are chattering.

If you have a fireplace, have a  fire lit during showings. This will go a long way in making your home stand out in a buyer’s mind and help them to envision themselves at home relaxing by a cozy  fire.

Open curtains and blinds and turn on lights. Winter can be grey and gloomy so brighten up your house as much as possible. Lighting is one of those psychological things that play tricks on our brains. The goal is to make your home feel cheery and bright.

Add some homey and warm accents. Put a nice  throw blanket on the couch. Light a couple candles. Make your home smell good with freshly baked cookies or some other yummy smelling food. Put on some soothing background music.

Any of our excellent agents at ChangingStreets.com would be happy to help you and share even more tips with you on getting your house sold this winter. The buyers are out there!
