Beautiful Fall Weekend

Last weekend I went to the Renaissance Festival in Holly with my sister which was fun but super crowded. It was the perfect day for people watching, listening to music, and drinking beer. One travesty however was the fact that we left without getting a turkey leg. If you’ve ever had one you know that they are worth waiting for, but our patience for waiting in lines had dried up. If you’re thinking about going, I would recommend getting there right when the festival opens or maybe a little later in the afternoon. I waited in a 2 mile long line of cars just to get into the parking area. The only reason I didn’t turn around and go home was because my sister and her family were waiting for me inside. I would also recommend wearing shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. It was pretty muddy in a lot of areas.

It’s supposed to be beautiful this weekend. If you’re looking for something fun to do (other than the Renaissance Festival) there are a lot of fun fall activities and events to enjoy. Here are a few suggestions:

·         Frankenmuth Oktoberfest, September 18 -21^st at Heritage Park in Frankenmuth. Enjoy all things German from food, music, dancing and beer.  Admission is $10 or it’s free on Sunday the 21^st. ·         Wine & Harvest Festival, September 20-21^st from 11am-4pm at Spicer Orchards & Carriage House Cellars, 10411 Clyde Rd. in Fenton. This event has fun activities for the whole family including arts and crafts, cider and doughnuts, great food, wine tasting, train rides, corn maze, and kids play area. ·         Common Ground’s Birmingham Street Art Fair, September 20^th from 10am-6pm and from 10am-5pm on the 21^st on South Old Woodward in Birmingham.
